McCain Gaffes, Volunteering Wife For Topless Contest
August 05, 2008 5:31 PM
ABC News' Gregory Wallace and Sara Just Report: Sen. John McCain, R-Az., perhaps unknowingly, volunteered his wife for a beauty pageant on Monday that often features contestants topless -- and, occasionally, without any decency -- at the Sturgis, South Dakota, motorcycle rally.
"I was looking at the Sturgis schedule, and noticed that you had a beauty pageant, so I encouraged Cindy to compete," McCain told an audience at the rally. "I told her [that] with a little luck, she could be the only woman to serve as both the First Lady and Miss Buffalo Chip."
The audience, clearly better versed in the details of the pageant, cheered and whistled their approval.
This annual rally, now in its 62nd year, rally attracts upwards of 500,000 riders in August to the small town of 5,500. The contest is named for the Buffalo Chip campground, home to about 25,000 riders for the nine-day rally.
The Arizona senator, according to the Buffalo Chip campground website, was participating in "the Buffalo Chip’s annual Tribute to American Veterans and Active Duty Servicemen." The site also says that many attendees are "veterans and active duty servicemen who will have a great appreciation for McCain’s family history of service to our country."
McCain also promised the audience that he would only speak briefly.
"I know that we are waiting with great anticipation for Kid Rock and the other entertainment," the Arizona senator said.

Cindy equals Joan Rivers

John already has my vote and she gets mine. I'll bet thats a fine pair of sweater puppies under that shirt.

This is totally out-of-character. Cindy McCain may sometimes be robotic, but she has a lot more class than this story indicates.
What in the H*** is John thinking of?!?!

Will she do this at one of the debates as well?

Great Story. McCain gets my vote for sure. I like his sense of humor. He is a regular good guy. I am sure he never intended his wife to take off her clothes. His wife is good looking and has lots of class. I like Cindy as a person.
Michelle listened to too much hatred of America and of White people. She has a bad attitude.
As a good Democrat loyal to Hillary I will cast my vote for McCain with Pride. He is a good American we can all trust to do the right thing.
I also strongly support his Energy Policy and strongly oppose Obama energy policy. Energy is critical to getting the economy going again.

Sorry Kermit, but I was one of those who were NOT in the crowd screaming, holding up lighters, and trying to throw my underwear on the stage when Obama did his rock-star campaign tour.
It provided lots of nice photo-ops, but was lacking in anything but sound-bytes and trite phrases.
Shouldn't we be expecting better from BOTH candidates?

Cindy is always in attendance to make sure McCain doesn't promise to veto beer again

Wouldn't that have been special for Cindy to be in this contest. She could have taken some of her stolen drugs from her drug addiction days to prepare, and hopefully Senator McCain would not have called her vulgar names as he has in the past.

No way does Obama come out of Denver with the nomination. The Democrat party bosses are desperate to dump this clown. The super delegates failed and the Republicans will have a big win in November.

John McCain who has said "I HATE GOOKS" and made a joke that "Chelsea Clinton is so ugly that her father is Janet Reno" now wants his wife to be in a topless bikini contest.
Interesting man...

Hey, instead of trying to choose between two losers, maybe we could vote for First Lady! I'd MUCH rather have Cindy McCain as first lady; at least she doesn't dislike America, and she doesn't make racial comments.
Cindy McCain for First Lady!
Cindy, leave John at the Arizona ranch; it will take him a few days to figure out he's been left behind.

Dave, based on your comments, you must be using a lot of Cindy McCain's addictive drugs. Pleased give them back to her. She needs them.

McCain is 5 ft 7
Obama 6 ft 2
The whole Mccain is a toughguy thing is sooooo laughable. He is a midget with midget ideas.

I love McCain - he does have a sense of humor that is so welcomed! He is like the rest of us! Go John and Cindy!

God Bless John Wayne McCain..
Rev Right, Michelle Obama, you 'll be able to return to Chicago soon, and back to your Racist, Hate filled lives...

Dave,
Keep dreaming.
I am sure you will be saying the same thing in Jan '09 when we are at President Obama's Inauguration.

Karen, oh yes, the McCains are just like the rest of us. Don't we all have four luxury homes, access to a corporate jet, her past drug addiction including stealing from her own charity. They are such a lovely couple.
